See which pages and searches earn money

Ask your assistant which landing pages and Google searches bring sales, sign-ups and revenue, using Search Console and Google Analytics together.

Traffic matters most when it leads to a sale or a sign-up. Search Console knows what people searched. Google Analytics knows what they did next. MeasureScale lets your assistant join the two, so you can see which pages and searches bring value.

Questions to ask

Pages that earn

  • “Which landing pages from Google bring the most revenue?”
  • “Which pages get lots of Google clicks but few sales?”
  • “How did my shop do last month in sales and revenue?”

Searches that earn

  • “Which Google searches bring in the most revenue?”
  • “Which searches bring people who sign up for my newsletter?”

Conversions

  • “How many key events did my site have last month?”
  • “Where do people drop off between product page and checkout?”

A good conversation

Here is an example of how a conversation can go.

  1. You ask: “Which landing pages bring the most revenue?” The assistant lists your landing pages with their Google clicks beside their visits, conversions and revenue from Google Analytics.
  2. You ask: “Which searches lead to that revenue?” The assistant estimates how much revenue each search brings. It shares each page’s revenue between the searches that led people there.
  3. You ask: “Which pages get clicks but no sales?” The assistant points out pages with many clicks and few conversions. Those pages may need a clearer next step.

Reading the answer

  • Revenue per search is an estimate. It shares a page’s revenue by each search’s share of clicks. It does not prove that a search caused a sale.
  • The Google Analytics numbers count every visit to the page, from any source. They are not limited to visitors from Google Search.
  • Search Console hides rare searches. Revenue from those visitors is not assigned to any search.
  • Revenue is in your Google Analytics currency. The answer covers totals, not single products.
  • A key event is an action you marked as important in Google Analytics, such as a purchase or a sign-up.

Tips

  • These questions need a Google Analytics property linked to your Search Console site. If none is linked, the assistant tells you where to link one in MeasureScale.
  • Ask for a full month or longer. Sales on a small site vary a lot from week to week.
  • Ask follow-ups about one page, such as “What searches bring people to my cake order page?”
  • If you have several sites, name the one you mean.
