Connect Search Console and GA4
Connect a Google account, choose which data MeasureScale can read, link each site to its GA4 property and disconnect when you want.
MeasureScale reads your data through a Google account you connect in the portal. It asks Google only for read-only access.
Connect a Google account
- In the portal, open Connections.
- Choose Connect Google.
- Sign in to Google with the account that can see your Search Console sites and GA4 properties.
- Allow access on Google’s screen.
MeasureScale asks for two Google permissions. Each one is read-only.
| Permission on Google’s screen | What MeasureScale uses it for |
|---|---|
| View Search Console data for your verified sites | Search Console reports |
| See and download your Google Analytics data | GA4 reports |
MeasureScale stores only the permissions you actually grant. If you clear one, questions about that source return a reconnect message. See Google permissions.
If you cancel on Google’s screen, the portal shows “Google connection was cancelled. Nothing was saved.”
More than one Google account
Agencies often reach client properties through different Google accounts. Choose Connect another account to add each one. Your assistant sees the properties from every connected account.
Your properties
MeasureScale loads your properties from Google when you connect. It checks for changes again at most every 10 minutes while you use the portal. To load changes now, open Properties and choose Refresh from Google.
The Properties page lists your Search Console sites. Each site can link to one GA4 property under Linked GA4 property. MeasureScale suggests a link when exactly one GA4 property name contains the site’s host name.
Set the link for each site you use. Questions that combine both sources use it to find the GA4 property. An example is which landing pages bring visitors who buy. You can also name the GA4 property in your question.
Disconnect a Google account
- Open Connections.
- Choose disconnect on the account.
MeasureScale revokes its access at Google and deletes the stored token. It also removes that account’s properties from MeasureScale. The account shows Disconnecting while this runs. If Google or the key service does not answer, MeasureScale retries in the background.
Cached query results are not removed at disconnect. They expire on their normal schedule, within 72 hours. See how your data is handled.
When a connection stops working
A connection can stop working when you change your Google password, revoke access in your Google account, or lose access to a property. The portal then shows Reconnect needed. Your assistant asks you to reconnect Google. See reconnect Google.
