# Get a weekly or monthly report

> Ask your assistant for a regular round-up of your Google search traffic and site visits, compared with the period before.

Every week or month, you want a quick picture of how your site is doing. MeasureScale lets your assistant pull the headline numbers from Search Console and Google Analytics in one conversation. It compares them with the period before and points out what moved.

## Questions to ask

### The headline numbers

- "Give me a summary of my site's Google search traffic for last month, compared with the month before."
- "How many visits, visitors and key events did my shop get last week?"
- "Which 10 pages brought the most visitors from Google this month?"

### What changed

- "Which searches moved up or down in Google since last month?"
- "Which pages lost the most clicks compared with the previous 4 weeks?"
- "Did my recipes section or my shop section bring more clicks last month?"

### Sales and sign-ups

- "How many purchases and newsletter sign-ups did I get last month?"

## A good conversation

Here is an example of how a conversation can go.

1. You ask: "Write me a short monthly report for my bakery site for September." The assistant compares September with August. It reports clicks, views in Google, click rate and average position, plus visits from Google Analytics if it is linked.
2. You ask: "What were the biggest movers?" The assistant lists the searches and pages that gained or lost the most ground in Google.
3. You ask: "Any pages I should worry about?" The assistant lists the pages whose clicks fell the most since the month before.
4. You ask: "Put that in five bullet points I can paste into an email." The assistant rewrites its answer, and you copy it.

## Reading the answer

- A click is a visit from Google Search. A view in Google, called an impression, is each time your page appeared in results.
- The click rate is clicks divided by views in Google, as a percent.
- Your position in Google is an average over the period. Position 1 is the top result, so a lower number is better.
- Google data takes about 3 days to settle. A report that ends yesterday can still change as Google finishes counting.
- Ranking changes compare the top 1,000 searches or pages. An entry missing from one period may just rank lower. It is not always new or lost.

## Tips

- MeasureScale does not send or schedule reports. Ask your assistant each week or month, then copy the answer where you need it.
- Use the same prompt each time, so the reports are easy to compare.
- Ask for whole weeks or whole months that end at least 3 days ago.
- A key event is an action you marked as important in Google Analytics, such as a purchase.
