# Connect Google Ads

> Allow MeasureScale to read your Google Ads reports, work with manager accounts and make your AI app show the Google Ads toolset.

MeasureScale can read your Google Ads reports and join them with Search Console and GA4. Google Ads access is optional. A normal connect does not ask for it.

## Before you start

- Connect Google first. See [connect Search Console and GA4](/getting-started/connect-google/).
- Use the Google account that can open your Google Ads account.
- The **Google Ads** button appears in the portal once MeasureScale has turned Google Ads on.

## Allow Google Ads

1. In the portal, open **Connections**.
2. Find the Google account that can open your Google Ads account.
3. Under optional access, find **Google Ads** and choose **Enable**.
4. Sign in to Google with the same account.
5. Allow the Google Ads permission on Google's screen.

If your assistant already asked for Google Ads, open the link it gave you instead. The link opens **Connections** with the same button.

Google has one Google Ads permission. It lets an app change campaigns as well as read them. MeasureScale uses it only to read reports. It never sends a change. See [Google permissions](/safety/google-permissions/#google-ads).

## Manager accounts

A manager account holds several client accounts. Agencies use them to look after many advertisers.

- MeasureScale finds every Google Ads account your Google login can reach, including the clients under a manager account.
- You do not choose a manager. MeasureScale works out which manager to sign in through.
- Ask your assistant "Which Google Ads accounts can you see?". It lists each account with its currency and time zone, and shows which accounts are managers.
- Name one account in each question. Each answer covers one account and one currency.
- A client account shows only when your Google login has access to it, directly or through a manager.

## Make your AI app show the Google Ads tools

Google Ads is its own toolset. See [toolsets](/concepts/toolsets/).

An AI app you approved before Google Ads was available keeps the toolsets it had. It does not show the new tools until you approve it again.

1. Open **AI apps** in the portal.
2. Choose **Revoke** on the assistant, then **Revoke access**.
3. Remove MeasureScale from the assistant and add it again, or start the connection again.
4. On the **Authorize an AI app** page, check that **Tool sets** lists **Google Ads**.
5. Choose **Approve**.
6. Start a new chat, then ask about your ads.

An API key shows every toolset without further steps. A key that you limited to chosen properties cannot read Google Ads. Create a key that allows all properties to use it.

## Check that it works

Ask your assistant "Which Google Ads accounts can you see?". If it lists your accounts, Google Ads is ready. Then try the questions in [check how your Google Ads perform](/use-cases/google-ads/).

## If something is missing

| What you see | What to do |
|---|---|
| No **Google Ads** button under **Connections** | Google Ads is not available yet. Check again later |
| Your assistant asks you to reconnect and names Google Ads | Open its link and choose **Enable**. See [reconnect Google](/troubleshooting/reconnect-google/) |
| Your assistant lists no Google Ads accounts | Check that you chose the Google account that can open Google Ads |
| Your assistant shows no Google Ads tools | Approve the assistant again. See the steps above |

## Turn it off

To stop MeasureScale reading Google Ads, remove its access in your Google account settings, or disconnect the Google account under **Connections**. See [Google permissions](/safety/google-permissions/#removing-access-at-google).
